Big wins in Australia

After a continued presence in the Australian market showcasing why Wellington works as a business events destination, our team in conjunction with Business Events Wellington have landed some big wins for our venues. 

Live in WLG performing well

The summer phase of our events marketing campaign achieved a reach of well over 1.5 million. We're currently in market with video, street posters and native Fairfax advertising to promote autumn events in Wellington. 

Talking it up at tradeshows

Our team had a great time talking up our venues at Show Me Wellington recently. Looking ahead, they're heading to Convene North and MEETINGS to showcase our venues to professional conference organisers and event mangers.

 

Strengthening the St James

Many of you will have noticed that the St James Theatre has closed for earthquake strengthening and to recommission its interior. We can't wait to see the finished product! Here are some quick FAQs to keep you up-to-date. 

Town Hall works begin

Work will begin shortly on strengthening the building exterior before the main refurbishment starts later in the year. The lane between the MFC and Town Hall, and the MFC carpark will be affected but the MFC will remain open during the works.

New Zealand Festival fun

Changes to catering at Venues Wellington

We have been advised that from 1 October 2017, Compass Group/Restaurant Associates will be ending their services with us following a change to their business model. We are working with the Restaurant Associates team on a transition plan so that we can provide a seamless transition to our hirers to one of our other excellent catering partners.

What’s news in Venues Wellington?

There's lots happening in our iconic Wellington venues, St James Theatre will close for strengthening work from Apr 2018 to August 2019, with this closure many performances will transfer to The Opera House. It's thumbs up for the Wellington Town Hall revamp, sign off for the construction of a Movie Museum and Convention Centre has been approved, and more!

The Venues Wellington team attended MEETINGS 2017, the CINZ annual tradeshow event. From showcasing our venues to hosting over a coffee and culinary delights, the Australian buyers were shown why Wellington is the best city to host events.

Ticketmaster joins the Venues Wellington team

As of 1 June 17, Venues Wellington ticketing provider is transitioning to Ticketmaster, following a long and successful relationship with Ticketek.
